The Central Coast is a pleasant blend of rugged national parks, waterways, and beaches. These golden beaches ideal for surfing, swimming, diving or walking, the Central Coast of NSW is a great weekend escape, or an ideal holiday destination. The Central Coast region offers you a chance to relax with friends and family exploring the vast waterways of Brisbane Water and Tuggerah Lake, Bouddi, and Wyrrabalong National Parks, the Ourimbah, Olney and Watagan State Forests, Somersby Falls, Calga Springs, Old Sydney Town, the Australian Reptile Park and beautiful sandy beaches.

Gosford is the largest town in the region and hosts a range of aquatic events such as sailing, water-skiing and jet boats. Terrigal and The Entrance are popular for good surf beaches, boutique style accommodation, shops, and fine restaurants. Woy Woy, at the southern end of the region, is bordered by the Hawkesbury River, Broken Bay and Brisbane Water and is renowned for its oysters. The surrounding area is significant for its picturesque scenery, spectacular lookouts and Aboriginal engraving sites as well as the ocean beaches of Umina, Ettalong and Pearl Beach.

North of The Entrance, Toukley is situated on the narrow part of land which divides Tuggerah and Budgewoi lakes. Further inland is Yarramalong and Dooralong Valley which offers a relaxing tour into rural farmlands. The Central Coast has large areas of protected bush land to explore. Take a kayak tour along the Hawkesbury River and enjoy the drama of sheer sandstone cliffs and tranquil rainforests. You can hire a houseboat and leave the busy world far behind you. The Central Coast is such a great holiday destination where you can abseil, horse ride, surf, scuba dive or just relaxing with a book.

Things to do and see
Australian Reptile ParkAustralian Reptile Park
The Australian Reptile Park and Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1948 by the late and great Eric Worrell, Australia's first naturalist, and is now regarded as one of the countries premier attractions. The Sanctuary is the only zoo in Australia committed to saving lives with a Venom-Milking Program in place for the past 50+ years, saving over 300 lives each year being the sole supplier of a variety of venoms, which is used for all snake and funnel web anti-venom in Australia.

The Australian Reptile Park is home to some of the most dangerous reptiles and most cuddly mammals in Australia. See giant crocodiles, pythons, native koalas, dingoes, echidnas, visit Spider World, or hand feed the kangaroos. Serving hot and cold food is the Hard Croc café or take advantage of the BBQ area with the family. The Australiana gift shop has many Aussie products for sale too.

Henry Kendall Cottage & Historical MuseumHenry Kendall Cottages & Historical Museum
The museum complex is situated on 1 hectacre with peaceful parkland surrounds comprising mostly Australian native trees and shrubs. The buildings and layout of the complex represent the local history of the Gosford area. Besides the Henry Kendall Cottage, there is a museum, a slab timber shed, farm machinery shed and outdoor exhibitions. In the picnic area there are picnic tables and two wood-burning barbecues. Extra tables and chairs and an urn of boiling water are available if required.

Old Sydney TownOld Sydney Town
Venture back into history as you wander the streets, and discover the lifestyle of Old Sydney Town. Watch soldiers on parade, thundering cannons, and the excitement of pistol duels and convict rebellion. Be part of a typical trial of the day as colonial justice takes its course in the Magistrate's Court. See convicts tried, convicted and punished. Relax and enjoy the bistro, kiosk and tea shop barbeque facilities are available. Take a leisurely ride around "Sydney Cove" on a bullock or horse-drawn wagon. Chat with the townspeople as they go about their business, or take a leisurely browse through stores of the period and choose from a wide range of craft products.
