This has to be on everyone’s to do list!! My fiancé & I absolutely loved this tour! That’s a lot coming from my fiancé who hates doing hikes. It was an early start at 4am, with a few hours travel before brekky at the Kings Creek Station, which was sooo yummy! Then a further drive to Kings Canyon. The Rim walk is a must if you can do it. It does require some general level of fitness due to the 500 stairs you have to tackle up first, these stairs are quite challenging. However we had all different age groups with us and there is plenty of rest breaks along the way. The views are just stunning! Photos never do these kind of places justice! We had such an amazing time. It’s a big day out but worth every second! Thank you to our kind & helpful guide Grace!

After feeling a little nervous about the enormity of the day and the grading of the Rim Walk, I found the day nothing but fantastic. The guides Jacob and Grace were terrific - a perfect balance of interesting commentary and quiet (particularly just after the 4am pick up which enabled us to all get some more shut eye). They were both very knowledgeable, accommodating and extremely competent for young tour professionals. The walk itself was breathtakingly beautiful. The first 500 meters up steep stairs are tough going but after that, it’s very achievable for anyone with an average level of fitness. I’d suggest that a trip to the red centre to see Uluru and Kata Tjuita is not complete without a visit to Kings Canyon (and if your able, bite off the full Rim Walk).

A very early start to the day at 4.14am, however it is definitely worth it. Our first stop at Kings Creek Station at least a couple of hours later was very welcome, the cooked breakfast was fantastic and gave us stamina for the day ahead. We chose to do the Rim Walk, there was only 7 of us out of the coach that did this as you need to have an above average level of fitness, you climb 500 steps to start and then there are some very steep steps when you climb up and down to the water hole etc. from the top you are rewarded with absolutely stunning views , interesting rock formations and fossils. Nik was our guide and he was great, very informative, fun and chatty and always looking out for everyone's safety, he is an asset to the business. The walk is about 3 1/2 hours, the day was around 32c so it was a little hot and you need to take 3 litres of water to do this tour and you will need it. We stopped at Curtin Station on the way home , if you get the chance to talk to the cheeky Corella he will make you laugh - he laughs too !! it was along day but amazing and a highlight to our trip in NT

This was an incredible tour. I chose the rim walk route. I'm not terribly fit but with a few stops up the 500 rock steps initially I made it. The guide, Nick was fabulous and informative. He was great with our small group of 6, ages ranging from 27 to 60. Nick was polite and considerate of our needs. He ensured our safety and time so as not to miss out on any features; ripple rocks, Moneypenny snail fossil. Garden of Eden, the cycade garden. The geology incredible and the views around every corner spectacular. A must on any trip out here. Highly recommend the rim walk, but you should have a bit of aerobic fitness. We stopped also at an interesting place called Curtain springs near Mt Connor on our way back to Yulara. A definite thumbs up, must do experience.

A very early start with a 7 hour round trip to visit Kings Canyon. My husband did the scenic rim 3 hr walk whilst my teen and I did the 1 hr creek walk. Both walks were good and our driver and guide, Jakob was fantastic. For such a young man, his knowledge on the area, history and flora and fauna was amazing! The canyon is not as amazing as Uluru and Kata Tjuta though, and we felt it was a long day overall. The breakfast was fine on the way and additional stops helped to break things up on the way home.

The tour itself was great. Our driver, Jack, and Tania the guide were fantastic. The stops along the way to the gorge were ok, nothing fantastic but useful as a toilet break. Our original Saturday tour was cancelled due to low number of bookings which we understand in these difficult covid times and we were given the opportunity of going on the Friday tour which we accepted. A note was delivered to our room the night before the tour confirming our booking and giving a pickup time of 4am. We waited outside the Desert Sands as instructed until the bus finally arrived at 4.45am. AAT Kings had forgotten to advise us of the revised pickup time. Due to the cancelled Saturday trip we had to extend our rental car hire by one day at some considerable cost and when we approached the office to suggest that maybe some consideration could be given by way of a lunch voucher or similar our request was dismissed with the comment that we should read the fine print and that AAT Kings could make whatever changes they liked. Customer service is not this company's strong point.

Had a fantastic day with Dylan, our driver, and John, our guide. Both men were friendly, enthusiastic, full of local knowledge, and super nice. Busy day, with a 4.30am start. A hearty breakfast was included, and both guys took the group on two different walks. One doing the scenic rim walk and the other the creek bed walk. I did the creek bed walk, and Dylan was amazing. No question was too silly, he gave lots of local information, and was friendly accommodating. The drive was amazing with lots of amazing views, some wildlife and tonnes of birds. Weather was perfect. Coach was comfortable. Would highly recommend, esp with Dylan and John. Amazing!!

Worst service ever! Happy to take your money but good luck getting any help. Had an issue with the date on our tour for Uluru, couldnt get through to anyone to reconfirm as the lines were all closed over the weekends and there are no emergency after hours numbers. The staff at Sails in the desert called their number on our behalf and I was told to email Monday as per the local rep. I then emailed twice over a month and was ignored. I ended up calling to find out what was going on, I then resent my email and it was forwarded to the customer relations team. The service got even worse. I was given information and recommendations that I could have done that were completely irrelevant to my scenario and no help at all. When I questioned the terrible customer service, she then told me she didnt see the problem with it even though we had been in Uluru 5 weeks earlier and I had emailed while I was still at the hotel. Im sure the tour guides are fantastic in location but if you have a problem dont hold your breath for any help or a timely reply.

Terrible costumer service and customer care. I booked a canyon tour with AAT kings in Uluru this May 2021. On arrival we tried to confirm the departure date and time for the tour however, none of the phone numbers were available for two days straight. We ended up missing the bus pick up at 5am, although no one from AAT contacted us all weekend to make sure we were in the bus. I've been trying to follow up for 2 months now with AAT as phone operators don't answer the phone and emails get a reply after 2 months, by the costumer relation manager, with no resolution. I've payed over $500 for a tour I've never partaken in and the customer service has been appalling. Would not recommend this company. In these unprecedented times I would have expect more from a tour operator but all they do is take your money with no after care when things go south.

The walk around the rim of Kings Canyon was strenuous but well worth doing for the scenery, especially to see the Garden of Eden which was at about the half way point. The breakfast at Kings Creek Station was delicious and you tell that the bacon was very fresh. Unfortunately, our AAT Kings bus was not being co-operative, especially when certain gears were needed to be used. The guides were knowledgeable and encouraged you to take the climb and walk at your own pace but I was slow and by the time that I reached the rest stops, most of the group started walking again so I did not get to rest for very long. My husband and I did this tour at the end of June when the weather was cool in Yulara but we wished that we had worn shorts/three quarter pants and a T-Shirt for the climb and walk around the rim of Kings Canyon as we got very warm and sweaty.
